Inside the investigation that indicted Phillipps of murder, recommended his prosecution
The Nigerian Police has dismissed an officer attached to the Lagos Command, Sgt Samuel Philipps, for allegedly killing an 18-year-old varsity education seeker, Monsurat Ojuade, in Ijeshatedo axis of Surulere Local Government, Lagos State.
Platforms Africa gathered that the law enforcement agency dismissed the officer after an internal investigation conducted indicated that Philipps’ actions were responsible for the teenager’s death.

Aside from that, the Command has concluded plans to arraign the indicted officer before a court on Friday in the state as part of the effort to ensure that the family of the deceased 18-year-old girl gets justice.
The dismissal came two weeks after the law enforcement officer allegedly killed the varsity education seeker while trying to effect an arrest of a robbery suspect within the teenager’s community.
Announcing the dismissal, the Lagos Command spokesperson, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said that Philipps, during the investigations, was tried for shooting and that at the conclusion of the findings, it was discovered that the law enforcement officer could not be exonerated from the crime.
Ajisebutu added that the dismissal and prosecution of Philipps were done in fulfillment of promises made by Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, Hakeem Odumosu, during his condolence visit to the deceased girl’s family.

The spokesman, through a statement made available to newsmen, stated that Odumosu had promised the family that the case would be properly investigated and that justice would be served in accordance with the law.
The statement reads in part: “The Commissioner of Police further sympathises with the bereaved family, and reiterates his earlier promise that justice would be done in this case”.
